We recently wrapped up our 2nd annual Training Summit held at Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio, and boy are we happily exhausted. We had a jam-packed two days filled with wonderful speakers, great session topics, networking, fabulous exhibitors, and of course, delicious food!

On Thursday, April 25 we had the following speakers join us:

  • Steve Wirth, Esq., with Page, Wolfberg, & Wirth (PWW). Steve presented on two topics:
    • "How Did Negligence Become Homicide?"
    • "Documentation in Court: What Billers, Providers, and Agency Leaders Can Learn from Real Legal Cases."
  • Brian Werfel, Esq. of Werfel & Werfel, and Medicare liaison with the American Ambulance Association (AAA) presented on the "Medicare Ground Ambulance Data Collection Survey (GADCS)." The Medicare survey wraps up this year with the final two years of selected providers set to submit May 31, 2024.
  • Steven Click, Director of the Office of First Responder Wellness with the Ohio Department of Public Safety spoke about "Self-Care in the EMS World" and just how vital taking care of those who care for us is!

On Friday, April 26, we were joined by the following speakers:

  • Cody Shetler, Captain of Sugarcreek Fire and Rescue. Cody presented on "5 Time Sensitive Diagnoses in EMS" and also gave a great overview of the Cleveland Clinic Critical Care Transport team(s) and what each branch of their operation entails.
  • Daniel Swords, Deputy Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation, Division of EMS, and David Fiffick, Chief Medical Transportation of the Ohio Department of Transportation, Division of EMS. The two presented on different updates going on in the State of Ohio EMS.
  • Matt Zavadsky, Chief Transformation Officer of MedStar Mobile Health spoke on "Navigating the Perfect Storm" which included information regarding hot topics in EMS.

We could not do any of this without the GENEROUS support of our Sponsors! Special thanks to: Advantech Service and Parts, LLC, Burgess Ambulance, Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, ESO, HRN Construction and Restoration, IMS, PennCare, PFund Superior Sales, VIFS of Ohio, Whelen, and Zoll.
